This season, we are excited to welcome
Arati Desai Wagabaza as the newest member on our Board of Directors!
Arati has been involved with our programs for some time as a parent and volunteer. We are thrilled to have her now join our Board of Directors and help us support a community where youth are inspired and empowered through quality music education.
Learn more about Arati in our interview below!
Elemental Music: Did you study music at all as a child? If so, do you find that your musical studies helped you in your current career in any way?
Arati Desai Wagabaza: I played piano and cello as a child. The experience helped me become a stronger and more empathetic team player – essential job skills!
EM: What kind of role did music play in your life growing up?
ADW: My home was never quiet. My father relaxed with classical music, my mother enjoyed Hindi film songs, one sister liked classic rock, the other listened to pop music, and I was all about alt rock. I still remember how excited I was when the Sony Walkman cassette player came out!
EM: How did you first get involved with Elemental Music?
ADW: My daughter participated in Elemental Band and Academy Philharmonic; I was a member of the Elemental Music Parent Task Force.
EM: Do you have a favorite Elemental Music memory?
ADW: I really look forward to concerts. The kids always impress me with their professional appearance, demeanor, and sound.
EM: What inspired you to join our board?
ADW: I've seen how transformative music education can be and am so delighted to contribute my time to a program of this caliber.
