Music Education Resources for Quarantine!

As we settle into a potentially long “safer at home” period, we thought some of our families might be interested in having a list of kid-friendly classical music websites and digital resources!

Have something to add to the list? Email us and let us know!

Video Libraries of Major Classical Music Ensembles

Did you know that many of the greatest orchestras in the world have amazing videos on youtube and have even opened up new videos since the COVID-19 crisis has shut down live music around the world?

Here are just a few truly amazing points of access beyond what you can find on youtube (this list is by no means complete):

The Kennedy Center has SO much amazing content to explore, in music (all genres), as well as dance, theater, and more.

Met Opera On Demand: you can stream handpicked past performances of the Met’s Live in HD series each night right from the organization’s website. The performances will go live at 7:30 p.m. ET and will remain active for 20 hours.

Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall: concerts by one of the best orchestras in the entire world - register for free access before March 31!

Seattle Symphony: free streaming of past performances - please check for details on when and what is being offered!

And a curated list of other live streams coming up in the next week can be found on The New Yorker Music Critic Alex Ross's page.

Alfred Music Worksheet Library

Alfred Music has a cute list of worksheets with music themes, including word searches, mazes, crosswords, and even mad libs!

Musicplay Online

This website is offering a free month-long membership for students and has fun music education games and activities.

Keeping the Score

This interactive website built by the San Francisco Symphony, while a bit old, is still packed with interactive videos and information about composers and their most famous pieces!

Music Theory

For any students looking to improve their music theory chops, this website offers a lot of free exercises to practice things like note identification, scale identification, and more!
