Emily is a violinist dedicated to the performance of contemporary music, with a special interest in cultivating collaborative relationships with composers. An adventurous chamber musician, recent performances have led her to play the violin with two bows, experiment with scordatura, throw ping pong balls, place mini alligator clips on her strings, and play into a fan. As a founding member of the Grammy-nominated Isaura String Quartet, Emily has worked closely with composers including Kitty Brazelton, Gloria Coates, Carmina Escobar, and Ulrich Krieger.
Emily has performed with various groups across Los Angeles, including wild Up, the Dog Star Orchestra, Wordless Music, Now Hear Ensemble, Equal Sound, and Synchromy, where she was a featured soloist. She has appeared in performances at LACMA, Monday Evening Concerts, LA Phil’s Noon to Midnight, Heidi Duckler Dance Company’s Ebb & Flow Festival, Sound/Image Festival (UK), and the Thailand New Music and Arts Symposium. Outside of the classical and new/experimental music world, Emily has recorded and performed for artists such as Angel Olsen, Baths, Geotic, Michael Bublé, Demi Lovato, Man Man, Sigur Rós, and more. Emily holds degrees from the California Institute of the Arts and Bennington College.
