Ryan Rowles
Ryan has been a music educator, performer, and conductor in the Los Angeles area for over 25 years. He graduated Cum Laude from CSU Northridge with BA in Music Education. He holds two Masters Degrees (Educational Leadership/Administration and Teaching) from Grand Canyon University. At CSUN he studied trumpet with Roy Poper. Over the years he has performed with Buddy Collette, Pete Christlieb, Conte Candoli, and Claudio Roditi.
Ryan served as Program Director for six years (2012-2018) for Education Through Music-Los Angeles, a non-profit that provides comprehensive in-school music instruction to disadvantaged schools throughout Los Angeles County.
Since 2018, Ryan has been on the music faculty of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. He serves as a band teacher for the elementary program and middle school band director at SMASH, as well as director of the Santa Monica High School Jazz Band 2 and Lincoln Middle School Jazz Band.
Ryan maintains a busy private trumpet teaching studio in Santa Monica and is currently playing trumpet in the horn section for local cumbia/reggae band Mayaztek.
