Ryan Phipps
Ryan Phipps is a diverse artist and educator from Los Angeles, California. He earned degrees in Cello Performance from Marshall University and West Virginia University and an Artist Diploma from California State University Fullerton. An avid chamber musician, he has performed with various ensembles during his career including Montani Quartet, the 2019 Quartet in Residence at the prestigious Interlochen Fine Arts Camp. He is deeply passionate about new music and has premiered many works throughout his career. He has performed in many of the great music halls in the United States, including Walt Disney Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, and Carnegie Hall. He has participated in performances with a variety of artists from Martin Chalifour of LA Philarmonic to Weird Al Yankovich. He is an active freelancer in LA, both on stage and in the recording studio, performing with his New Music Quartet, Orchestra Collective of Orange County, Filipino American Symphony Orchestra, and Liminal Voices and Orchestra, among others. During the summer, he is the ResLife Director at the International Cello Institute in Northfield, MN. Ryan is a passionate instructor and coach, and also moonlights as violist/keyboardist in local indie band, Linen.
